Auld Leather Syne: At a Loss for Reasonable Resolutions?
Make time to take care of yourself and your needs.
Attend a new leather/BDSM event.
Consider joining a leather club. They need you. And, they are the backbone of the community.
Moisturize your second skin. Condition your leathers!
Talk to someone, who you’d never considered talking to before, in a leather bar. Your welcome might be all they need.
Give back: throw a charity event. For example, CLAW Nation parities draw a large crowd and you are supported by both CLAW and Recon.
Mentor. Share your knowledge of leather with someone newly exploring.
Expand your horizons: learn a new BDSM related skill or lend your expertise in new ways to the community.
Reconnect with your partner/s. Take time out of your busy schedule to show them how much you love them.
Times are tough: organize a leather swap meet. Trade the stuff you haven’t worn or which doesn’t fit to others to can use it.
Compete for a leather title. Sure, it has it’s headaches but it provides you an outlet to serve the community and opportunity to meet people you might never have done so.
Help document our history: send leather community related items, photos, writings, books, garments, etc... to the Leather Archives.
Support your regional bootblacks!
Remember the deaf folk in our community and try to work out ASL interpreters for your events.
Take a non-leather related vacation. Variety is the spice of life. ;)
Save some $$$ in the New Year. Volunteer (and be partially or fully comped) at a leather/fetish event.
Get involved with the Mr. Friendly campaign! http://mrfriendly.info/
Organize a "leather invasion" and take a group outing to attend an event/fundraiser of another aspect of the GLBTQ or fetish communities.
Tell someone who might not have realized, that you appreciate them.
Never forget those who have walked this path before us. Honor their memory in word and deed.
"And there's a hand, my trusty friend,
And give's a hand o' thine;
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne."
Happy New Year!
Love & Leather,
